Andras Visky is Professor of Performance Studies at the Babes-Bolyai Uni¬
versity of Cluj, Romania, and the Karoli Gaspar University of the Reformed
Church (Budapest). He is a renowned dramaturg and playwright, too; his
award-winning plays being internationally produced by theaters in Europe
and the United States. His scholarly writings focus on rituality and contem¬
porary theater, contemporary playwriting and dramaturgy, studies on writers’
oeuvres such as Imre Kertész, Samuel Beckett, or theater directors such as
Silviu Purcarete, Mihai Maniutiu, and Gabor Tompa. As a visiting professor,
he has taught or offered playwriting and dramaturgy workshops across the
world, including Calvin University, the University of California San Diego,
Korea National University of Arts, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design,
and Yale School of Drama.
