guestions necessary for the design of the Hungarian national terminology
database, especially the aspects that are important for designing the technological
background. They conclude that the ideal terminology management system
should take into account the needs of both the user and the editor, and help both
in using the interface effectively. From the perspective of the user, it is important
how the terminological data is displayed and searched, and for the editor, it is
important that it allows accurate and consistent data input. It is also essential
that the terminology work as a project be supported efficiently by the ideal
terminology management system.

In their study, A magyar terminológiastratégia megvalósítása. A szoftveres
keretrendszer kiválasztásának szempontjai a Magyar Nemzeti Terminológiai
Adatbázis tervezése során [Feasibility of the Hungarian terminology strategy.
Selection criteria of the software framework for the design of the Hungarian
National Terminology Database], Agota Féris and Zoltan Somogyi examine the
criteria to be taken into account when selecting from the available terminology
database management frameworks. Based on these criteria, two specific database
management systems are analyzed in detail: the open-source and free Terminologue,
and the commercially available database management system, Kalcium quickTerm.
On the one hand, they conclude that software that meets the needs of the users
and editors is already available, so it is not worth starting to develop a system
from scratch. On the other hand, although both software can provide the same
functionality up to a certain level (even if with different technical solutions), the
free software can quickly become limited and certain compromises have to be
made, while the commercial software analyzed offers abundant options for the
implementation of a terminology project — although at a higher cost.

Ágota Fóris and Eszter B. Papp’s paper, Elétanulmäny a magyar nemzeti
terminológiai adatbázis terminológiai bejegyzéseinek információs struktúrájáról
[A preliminary study for the information structure of the terminology entry in
the Hungarian (National) Terminology Databasel, was published first in 2020 in
English; in this volume, it is published in Hungarian. One of the first steps to¬
wards a Hungarian national terminology database is developing the principles
and methodology of the terminology database and optimizing the terminolog¬
ical methods used to make the work in the terminology database more efficient.
This is based on an analysis of the structure of existing databases, the data
categories and the experience shared by experts. The purpose of this preliminary
study is to examine the structure of terminology entries that may be used in the
Hungarian national terminology database in the future, and to make recommen¬
dations on the structure and data categories of the entries.
