- A katolikus egyházi intézmények fenntarthatósága e könyv központi kérdése, amely magában foglalja létük és hatásuk gazdasági, társadalmi és teológiai dimenzióit. A kötet azt vizsgálja, hogy a különböző szerzetesrendek (bencések, domonkosok, ferencesek, jezsuiták, premontreiek, piaristák) hogyan navigáltak a korok kihívásai között, mint az erőforrás-gazdálkodás, a politikai változások és a társadalmi átalakulások. A társadalmi ranglétrán más-más helyet elfoglaló iskolafenntartók (király, állam, főpap, főnemes) is bemutatásra kerülnek, akik az évszázadok során, az egyházzal együttműködve tartották fenn a Habsburg Birodalom és benne Magyarország alsó-, közép- és felsőfokú intézményeit. E dinamikák megértése értékes betekintést nyújt történelmi örökségükbe és annak mai aktualitásába.

- The sustainability of Catholic ecclesiastical institutions is the central theme of this book, encompassing the economic, social, and theological dimensions of their existence and impact. The book examines how different religious orders (Benedictines, Dominicans, Franciscans, Jesuits, Premonstratensians, Piarists) have met the challenges of the times, such as resource management, political change, and social transformation. It also shows the various school patrons (king, state, high priest, nobility) who, in cooperation with the church, maintained the lower, middle, and higher educational institutions of the Habsburg Empire and Hungary over the centuries. Understanding these dynamics provides valuable insights into their historical legacy and their relevance today.
