- Krasznahorkai László nem csupán a kortárs magyar irodalom, hanem napjaink világirodalmának is az egyik legfontosabb és legeredetibb alkotója, aki 1977-ben megjelent első elbeszélése óta konok következetességgel írja életművét, voltaképpen egyetlen szöveget. Szabó Gábor informatív monográfiája az életmű belső mozgásait, motívumvándorlásait vizsgálja, és akkurátus pontossággal olvassa és elemzi végig az életmű egészét. A Kilátás az utolsó hajóról cím a Krasznahorkai-epika hullámmozgásaira utal,ugyanakkor a perspektíva, az esély(telenség), távlat(nélküliség) mellett a művekben megjelenő reménylehetőségekre is rávilágít. A kötet nem csupán a Krasznahorkai-művek összefüggéseit, a filozófiai, természettudományi és képzőművészeti hatásokat és vonatkozásokat térképezi fel,de ragyogó összehasonlító elemzéseket olvashatunk az író számára megkerülhetetlen Hermann Melville,Jorge Luis Borges és a nemrég elhunyt kolosszális amerikai regényíró, Cormac McCarthy apropóján is.

- One of the most important and original creators in contemporary Hungarian literature, László Krasznahorkai is also a key figure in world literature. Ever since the publication of his first short story in 1977, Krasznahorkai has been writing his oeuvre—indeed, essentially a single continuous text— with unyielding consistency. Gábor Szabó’s informative monograph examines the internal dynamics and migrating motifs of this body of work, reading and analyzing the entire oeuvre with meticulous precision. The title View from the Last Boat alludes to the wave-like movements of Krasznahorkai’s prose, while also illuminating the possibilities for hope that appear in the works alongside themes of perspective, (im)possibility, and the presence—or absence—of horizons. Szabó's book not only maps out the interrelations within Krasznahorkai’s writing and its philosophical, scientific, and artistic influences and references, but also offers brilliant comparative analyses prompted by the indispensable figures for the author: Hermann Melville, Jorge Luis Borges, and the recently deceased colossal American novelist, Cormac McCarthy.
