- A Köztes terek a közelmúlt "nyóckerét" vizsgálja, vagyis azt a városnegyedet, amely a rendszerváltás után rövid életű és fragmentált, mégis egyedülálló roma identitásépüléseknek, kulturális gyakorlatoknak, önreprezentációs kísérleteknek volt a helyszíne. Az 1990-es és 2000-es évek elején ugyanis ez a gettónak is láttatott városi tér olyan intézményeknek, civil szerveződéseknek, kulturális fesztiváloknak, vagy akár freestlye hip-hop esteknek adott otthont, amelyek, ha csak átmenetileg is, de átírták vagy legalábbis megzavarták a hegemónikus társadalmi normákat; új szerepeket, megnyilvánulási lehetőségeket felkínálva a kerületben élő romáknak. A könyv – támaszkodva a városnegyed társadalomtörténeti előzményeire - egyszerre vizsgálja a nyócker fizikai és metaforikus tereit, különféle filmes, zenei vagy közösségi reprezentációs példákat alapul véve, illetve a Magdolna-rehabilitáció hatását vizsgálva. A hibrid, köztes nyócker feltérképezése a vernakuláris és plurális történetírás nevében arra vállalkozik, hogy egyfajta megkésett dialógust kezdeményezve, láttassa a mára jórészt elveszett, láthatatlan józsefvárosi roma kulturális gyakorlatokat.

- Liminal spaces examines the 8th district of the recent past, a neighbourhood that was the site of short-lived and fragmented, yet unique Roma identity-building, cultural practices and experiments in self-representation after the regime change. In the 1990s and early 2000s, this urban space, also seen as a ghetto, was home to institutions, civil organisations, cultural festivals and even freestyle hip-hop nights that, even if only temporarily, rewrote or at least disrupted hegemonic social norms, offering new roles and opportunities for Roma in the district. Drawing on the social history of the neighbourhood, the book explores both the physical and metaphorical spaces of the 8th district, drawing on various examples of film, music or community representation, and examining the impact of the Magdolna rehabilitation. In the name of vernacular and pluralist historiography, the mapping of the hybrid, intermediate 8th district attempts to initiate a kind of belated dialogue, to see the now largely lost, invisible cultural practices of the Roma of Józsefváros.
