Chapter 1. Foundation eight main targets from 2000 to 2015." Later, learning from the challenges and difficulties experienced, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?” retrieved the earlier action plan for the period 2015-2030, introducing seventeen new goals. Among the targets, there are several that are of environmental importance, including inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and human settlements. Building green, sustainable communities is an essential element of the UN’s sustainability-related goals. Green communities have an indisputably vital role to play in achieving climate goals, as the bottom-up approach has already been proven to be beneficial for a number of nature and environment-related programmes. These include, among others, efforts to protect endangered species, where social embeddedness has largely determined the actual implementation of relevant international and national efforts. A high level of human rights, particularly third-generation human rights, is an indispensable element of building a green democracy. In parallel with the focus on climate issues, there has been a growing focus on third-generation human rights, including the right to a healthy or liveable environment of good quality, the right to water and the right to food. The link between a high level of human rights and sound environmental quality is well established. Furthermore, the rights of particularly vulnerable (marginalised) groups, whose opportunities are further limited by the negative impacts of climate change, should be assessed as a priority issue today. Despite the lack of a unified concept of green communities and green democracy in the literature, its main building elements, which can be legally articulated, can be identified. Lastly, although digitalisation and artificial intelligence are greatly facilitating the green transition, we must, unfortunately, also take into account certain negative consequences that are contributing to the deterioration of the environmental problems of our time.”! Sustainability and ecocide are strongly related to each other. In my opinion, numerous SDGs can be directly and indirectly connected to ecocide. Firstly, SDG6, “Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”, resonates with the human right to water 19 UN: Millennium Development Goals.
