ANGOL NYELVŰ ÖSSZEFOGLALÓK SUMMARY METHODOLOGY The sample - Each survey within the HBSC study must be conducted according to the internationally developed and approved research protocol. To fulfil international requirements (namely selecting age groups of pupils with 11.5, 13.5 and 15.5 mean age), and further to include the 17.5-year-old age group, 5", 7, 9, and 11" graders were considered as target population in this study. - Current analyses were done on the Hungarian nationally representative sample, which was drawn using stratified cluster sampling technique. Strata were created by geographical regions, by settlement size, by secondary school type (e.g., grammar-school, vocational school) and by school maintainer (e.g., municipality, church). Data collection was carried out in randomly selected school-classes. - The cleaned sample contains 6291 questionnaires, filled in appropriately. Mean ages with standard deviations by grade were 11.73 (S.D.*°: 0.59) for grade 5; 13.71 (S.D.: 0.60) for grade 7; 15.84 (S.D.: 0.67) for grade 9; and 17.98 (S.D.: 0.60) for grade 11. The questionnaire - Three questionnaires were developed for the survey: one for 5" graders, a longer one with more questions for the 7" graders and the longest one for the secondary school students (legal and illegal drug use, video gaming, gambling, as well as sexual behaviour items were included only for this
