ATOM EGOYAN’s CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CINEMATIC LANDSCAPE OF CANADA may be familiar, their execution offers a new lens through which we can re-examine them. These films powerfully demonstrate the human desire for change and transformation, especially when the present is burdened by tragic and traumatic experiences, as well as the long and difficult process of starting over, where one may eventually succeed or face insurmountable obstacles. He graduated from Eötvös Loránd University in English and Hungarian literature in 1991 and earned his doctoral degree in literary studies from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2000. He was Visiting Professor of Hungarian at the University of Toronto in 2018-2019, 2015 and 2005-2008, where his work focused on Hungarian literature, cinema and culture. He became a habilitated doctor in literary studies in 2014 and is a member of the Doctoral School of Literary Studies at Eötvös Lorand University. He has been co-editor of The AnaChronisT since 2002.
